Light Pollution Reflection / Refraction Number 33

WARNING: I guarantee my reflections and refractions will create controversy and confrontation, and quite likely I'll step on many toes, but it's way past time to be submissive enablers.

WHAT SYPHILIZED (CIVILIZED) HUMANS ARE MISSING!

How many stars can you see on clear, moonless nights? 5? 50? 500? Why so few?

LIGHT POLLUTION! It clutters the night with light blight.

What would a pristine, dark night sky look like?

The sky your ancient ancestors saw every clear, moonless night.

Ah, but we gotta keep that $hame-ber of Commerce engine of economic development chuggin’ on down the tracks at full throttle-up, don’t we! Sure hope them O-blah-blah-blah-ma-rings hold!

Will the images you’re about to see anger you AND ignite your fight against LIGHT POLLUTION?

See What We Syphilized (Civilized?) Humans Are Missing HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE:

Yes, we've reserved a few dark places for telescopes and parks (whoop-de-do!), but most of America is reserved for those good-ol' God-fearin' Flag-wavin' 'Murican $hame-ber of Commerce goons and their bright night light. Hey, gotta keep that $hame-ber of Commerce engine of ECO-nomic...! Oops, O-rings break??

This just in: a nighttime view of the Atlantic Seaboard from a winder aboard the International Space Station! I can just hear those astronauts screamin':

"Tell us again, International Dark-Sky Ass. / Illuminating Engineering Society (IDA / IES), how yer Model Lightin' Law n' Ordinance (MLO) and Dark-Sky Friendly nighttime lights is gonna feex that nasty little ol' light pollution thingy ya got goin' on down there!"

YES, I must seem like a tornado, hurricane, tropical storm, earthquake (all recently) tearing the IDA / IES SOBs (Satans of Brightness) to shreds. Actually, I'm being very kind! Over the last two-plus decades they've spent 100s of thousands (millions?) of dollars (not mine) and wasted millions of hours of people's time and effort trying to kill light pollution using the WRONG approach... and have failed...

MISERABLY!

ANGRY? Beyond words! Frustrated? Duh!

But I refuse to give up, refuse to stop believing that a future with dark skies does exist! That eventually astronomers and nonastronomers alike will finally awaken from their slumber and apathy and fight back, fight to kill the light!
